Bobby Bruce – Nearly Neil – Lead Vocals & Acoustic Guitar

Bobby Bruce grew up on stage; appearing in film and television as a child, then musical theatre and rock revues in his youth; investing more than a quarter of a century honing his triple-threat entertainment skills.  In 1994, a “legend” was born in Toronto when Bobby Bruce’s incomparable talent for impersonating Neil Diamond came to life on stage.

Bobby began his tribute career with some of the biggest names in the business and has never looked back; jump-starting his international work with casinos in Nevada, Missouri and Atlantic City in 1995 with Legends in Concert, graduating to his first tour of Australia in Legends of Rock in 1996.

Following a Royal Performance for the King and Queen of Malaysia; in 1998, Bobby changed the nature of his show from impersonation to tribute and created Nearly Neil and the Solitary Band now a regular fixture at elite casinos and theatres across North America, Australia and Europe.

Featured in MOCKSTARS, a million-dollar feature length documentary about Canadian tribute artists in 2002, Bobby’s star continued to climb. The following year saw his first national tour of New Zealand with Nearly Neil and the Solitary Band. In 2006, Bobby was very pleased to receive the “Entertainer of the Year Award” from the Pacific National Exhibition.

Partnering with DownUnder Promotions in 2008, Bobby returned to the country that gave him his moniker. Bobby and the Solitary Band travelled 50,000 kilometres touring 22 American States for Live on Stage in 2009/10.

The Solitary Band toured Holland for the first time in 2011. The tour grew to more than thirty theatres in the Netherlands and Belgium in 2012 & 13. For the same two years Bobby was recognized with ACE (Australian Club Entertainment) Award Nominations in the “International Touring Artist” category.

2014 proved to be a big year "Down Under" for Bobby with 4 months of countrywide touring across Australia with his newly expanded Beautiful Noise Tour adding a string section to the full rock band.

That tour was so successful that it returned to Australia in September 2015 for another two months. After a brief respite at home on Gambier Island, BC, Bobby returned to the Southern Hemisphere to headline his own one-night concert at SKYCITY Auckland at the beginning of December.  Nearly Neil and the Solitary Band rang in 2016 at Casino Regina to a sold out house.

Bobby Bruce was pleased to make his debut appearance at the 22nd Annual Reel Tribute Convention in Las Vegas in February 2016.  He will be ringing in 2017 in Australia.
